The Everyday Hostess and IBB at Home Summer Soiree

These Bacon Cheeseburger with Crispy Onion Ring Sliders are one of my all time favorite summertime recipes! They are so incredibly juicy and delicious and are just perfect for an outdoor BBQ party with your friends or a tasty family dinner at home.

We have taken a classic cheeseburger and topped it with our favorite Sweet Baby Ray’s Brown Sugar Sauce to give the perfect saucy sweetness to the dish and topped it with our crunchy thin onion rings and bacon! Could this get any better? I am craving it just thinking about it, so it may need to make another appearance on our dinner table tonight!

One of the best parts of this Alice in Wonderland themed tea party that I hosted is that it had all of the magic of a tea party (both real and imaginative) that I had as a little girl. Part of that magic is that you get to eat with your hands.

Besides the fabulous company of course, my favorite part of any tea party is the tasty variety of finger tea sandwiches. I mean what is better than sitting down for a formal soireé and still getting to eat with your hands?

easter-115

For our recent Easter Alice in Wonderland themed tea party I made a selection of tea sandwiches including a Lemon Dill Cucumber Sandwich, Pimento Cheese Sandwich, and a Chicken Salad Puff Sandwich and served them on a traditional three-tiered tray. There are a wide variety of popular tea sandwiches, but I find that with this classic combination every guest is sure to be pleased.

Check out all of our favorite recipes below for your next tea party!

Just one more little tip! While all three of these sandwiches can be served on a simple white bread, I like to mix up the breads and the shapes of the sandwiches so that the serving tray is a little more appealing to the eye. You can easily cut these little bites into rectangles, triangles, squares or make different sizes of the puffs for a little variety!

02.07.16-29

It’s starting to warm up here in Dallas, but I have my fingers crossed for at least one last cold front before spring fully sets in.  Like many of you, my favorite dish to enjoy on a cold afternoon is a classic bowl of chili. My mom used to always make it when we were snowed in from a blizzard, so this has become a favorite comfort food for me. It takes a little bit of time to make, but it freezes well so you can easily make extras and bring it out on that unexpected chilly day or when you didn’t have time to whip up anything for dinner!

02.07.16-9
So that’s exactly what I’ve done! I spent the weekend making my favorite chili recipe, probably eating more than my fair share 😱, and freezing the rest for upcoming meals or when I need a little comfort food pick me up on a colder day!

I will admit, I have high expectations when it comes to this classic dish…mainly because every ski lodge has the best dang chili in the world , so I’ve been spoiled with some amazing chili in my day. But I’ll tell ya what! This recipe gives any ski lodge a run for its money! It’s hearty and delicious but still tastes light and healthy!

With the New Year in full swing, we are all trying to be a little bit healthier. However, if you’re like me and Mexican food is one of your favorite cuisines and guilty pleasures, this can be a little bit trickier! So! I am on a mission to make as many different Mexican recipes as possible “healthy” this year! We are starting with this absolutely delicious Chicken Enchilada Spaghetti Squash.

Chicken Enchilada Spaghetti Squash

If you haven’t cooked with spaghetti squash much, you are in for a treat! It takes a little bit of time to bake the squash, but it absorbs the flavors of the spices that you are cooking with, so it’s super easy to incorporate into your family’s favorite dishes and you (or your kids!) won’t even know you are eating squash!

The enchilada sauce, paired with the taco seasoning, cheese, and vegetables poured over the spaghetti squash tastes just like your favorite enchilada without the guilt of all the tortillas and carbs! This is one of my favorite dinners to make and always leaves for great lunch leftovers the next day!

Check out our quick video tutorial, and I am sure this will quickly become a family favorite!

When hosting a cocktail party it is always important to prepare appetizers that people can eat with a single hand while mixing and mingling. We are all familiar with that awkward situation when you have a drink in one hand, a small plate and a fork in another, and then a friend comes up to greet you and have to re-situate everything that you are holding just to give a simple hug or handshake! How uncomfortable is that?! I literally hate that situation but find myself in it regularly.

Therefore, in order to avoid this at my parties, I like to serve easy bite sized appetizers that can easily be served on a napkin, so you don’t have the extra plate to hold on to. Then once your guests have taken their bite, they can easily crumple up their napkin, and voila! A free hand to shake as many hands as they want with!

I recently started including Stonefire naan into my appetizers at cocktail parties. The pre-made flatbread can be found in the bakery or deli section of your local grocery store and tastes absolutely delicious. You can easily use the naan to transform any of your favorite snacks into small flatbread bites for your friends and family.

I have taken three of my favorite traditional dishes (Cranberry Brie Tarts, Spinach Artichoke Dip, and Caramel Apple Crisp) and put a unique spin on them to make the most delicious and easily “servable” appetizers for any cocktail party! Check out these recipes for my favorite Stonefire cocktail appetizers below!

Once you have made the delectable flatbread, all you have to do is slice it into even bite sized pieces and serve! No longer do your guests have to balance a plate and silverware while trying to mingle at your party!

Check out these perfect cocktail party recipes and include Stonefire in your own soiree, and I can guarantee that your party menu will be an absolute sucess! Plus, once you have tried these recipes, head on over to Stonefire’s website for even more flatbread recipes that you can make from home!

During the holiday season, I love spending winter days on the slopes in Colorado. What is perfect on snowy winter days? (Besides a glass of wine in the hot tub…duh!) Warm and tasty comfort foods! That’s where these Chicken Spinach Artichoke Flatbreads come in!

Spinach Artichoke Dip Flatbread - The Everyday Hostess

One of my favorite “I am freezing and need a warm snack” is, of course, spinach artichoke dip with pitas and fresh veggies! I have been making the same dip for years, so it is about time that I mix up the recipe and put a little spin on this traditional dish! Take the work out of snacks to dip and just put the spinach artichoke dip right on a yummy flatbread!

Spinach Arichoke Dip

This is the EASIEST appetizer and is perfect for a nice little snack at home or can even be dressed up and served at cocktail parties! I’ve used my favorite pre-made Stonefire naan, which can be found in the bakery or deli section of your local grocery store, and added my homemade spinach artichoke dip to create the perfect flatbread! I also personally like to add poached shredded chicken to give the dish a protein boost, but this can easily be left out for any vegetarians out there. Pro tip for the less calorie conscious: bacon would also be awesome!

Cranberry Pecan and Brie Flatbread with a Maple Brown Sugar Glaze and Carmalized Onions

With Christmas and New Year’s right around the corner and holiday parties in full swing, I am always looking for new and unique appetizers to serve at my gatherings or to bring to other people’s homes. However, between all of the to-do lists and Christmas shopping I have, I keep finding myself short on time and just reverting to the traditional holiday recipes that I have been making for years. So much for my new and unique appetizers!

The Everyday Hostess - Cranberry Pecan and Brie Flatbread

This stops now! This Cranberry Pecan and Brie Flatbread with a Maple Brown Sugar Glaze has completely changed the game for me! It is absolutely delicious and, with the help of the pre-made Stonefire Naan Flatbread (found in the deli or bakery section of your local grocery store), it only takes 10 minutes to prepare. The cranberries are so festive and the maple brown sugar glaze brings a sweetness to the dish that pairs perfectly with the Brie. Plus, it can be cut it into small bite size pieces, so it is easy to serve at a cocktail party and people can still mix and mingle while enjoying their appetizer.

Cranberry Pecan and Onion Brie Flatbread with a Maple Brown Sugar Glaze Appetizer Bite

I recently served this at a holiday party that I had at my house, and I kid you not, I could not keep it on the table for more than five minutes at a time. People kept going back for seconds and thirds and just absolutely loving it! This is the perfect dish for your next holiday gathering! Whether you are looking for a unique twist to traditional holiday favorite or just want a quick festive bite because you are short on time, this recipe is sure to do the trick and will be a definite crowd pleaser!

Enjoy!

These Grilled Cheese and Creamy Tomato Basil Soup Shooters are the cutest little appetizers I have ever seen! On these chilly fall days, who doesn’t love to enjoy a warm bowl of creamy tomato basil soup with their favorite grilled cheese sandwich? It is the ultimate comfort food if you ask me!

Grilled Cheese and Tomato Soup Shooters

I recently hosted a fall party at The T Shop, for which I provided a variety of seasonal appetizers and desserts. In crafting the menu, I wanted to include some popular comfort foods, so some sort of tomato basil soup was a must. This is not the easiest dish to serve at a cocktail party, so I came up with these adorable shooters, which are basically just large shot glasses with tomato soup in them and grilled cheese sandwich bites adorning the rim! It was perfect and a total hit amongst the guests!

I cannot get enough salmon! After having the cedar plank salmon at H-3 in the Fort Worth Stockyards, (all local DFW friends, seriously please go! It is amazing and right across from Billy Bob’s) I have become obsessed with cedar plank salmon. The smoky flavor infused in the salmon is to die for, so of course I had to create my own version of this delectable dish!

salmon above 2

This brown sugar and Dijon mustard glazed cedar plank salmon is by far one of my favorite entrees of all time! The candied flavor from the brown sugar and honey mustard glaze coupled with the smoky flavor from the cedar plank creates the perfect sweet and savory combination.

As much as I love my smoked salmon and eggs benedict, sometimes you just need to break out a classic and traditional quiche for your brunch party! Quiche is the perfect addition to any breakfast or brunch because you can easily adapt it to the size of your party and change up the ingredients to suit the tastes of your guests! Plus, you can make it the night before, so all you have to do is reheat it in the morning for a hassle free meal.

brunch Table layout two

Quiches save really well, so I love making a variety of quiches on the weekends for a fun Sunday morning brunch with friends or even just for a party of two and keeping the extras for an easy go to breakfast throughout the rest of the workweek!

You can easily change up the vegetable and meat additions to create a variety of different quiche combinations. My personal favorite combinations are bacon (because who doesn’t love bacon?!), red and green bell peppers, and spinach, but feel free to get as creative as you want!
