Summer party season is officially here! Between all of the pool parties, backyard gatherings, and Bachelorette watching parties (oh yeah – we turn my favorite 2 hours of every Monday into a weekly dinner party), I am always looking for different hostess gifts to bring with me (or give to my guests), and maybe even more importantly, new ways to wrap and present them!

Candles and wine bottles are often overdone, but one gift that that is always appreciated is one that is homemade. Plus for the giver, it’s usually easy to throw together last minute and can accommodate any budget!

My personal favorite and go-to homemade gift comes in the form of a mason jar with a customized gift tag.

We all have a million mason jars laying around (and if you don’t, you can get a dozen at your local grocery store for under $15 or here) and you can easily fill it with your favorite homemade salsa for a fiesta party, homemade cookie or pie ingredients for an interactive baking extravaganza later on, or even with something as easy as Swedish Fish for a cute kids pool party! It can be as simple or elaborate as you want, but what matters most is how you wrap and display it!

We all know presentation is key to making a simple gift look like you’ve been thinking about it for weeks or even just to add a customized flair to it! So to help us all out, my friend Steph at JOY Creative Shop, has created the most adorable gift tags that are perfect to add to all your homemade gifts!

Okay all my engaged couples planning weddings and honeymoons! This one’s for you! Not only do I recommend hiring a wedding planner, but hire a honeymoon planner (the fancy way to say a travel agent!).

When Landon and I were planning our wedding, it felt like we were constantly in the process of making 50 decisions at a time. Picking out the invitations alone involved close to 20 decisions…paper type, paper weight, font, calligraphy, width, border, engraved or printed…and it literally goes on!

Anyway – as immensely excited as I was for the honeymoon (I can’t even tell you how many swimsuits I tried on), I really did not have the time I wanted or needed to research all the potential honeymoon destinations! Of course, I constantly looked at resort photos and read blogs, but I really needed help from an expert who had been to the resorts to give me advice on the honeymoon planning process!

And that’s where Linda Terrill came in! Hiring Linda as our honeymoon travel agent was one of the best decisions we made during the wedding planning process. Some may say this is an outdated industry and there are enough travel sites that can do this for you, but let me tell you – nothing beats the individual and custom assistance that a live travel agent can do for you! She made the process easy and booked everything for us for our honeymoon trip of a lifetime! It started off with a quick 15 minute consultation where I explained what kind of honeymoon we wanted, our level of activity, our deal breakers and must haves and, of course, our budget.

Within a few days she sent me a proposal packet of 8 different honeymoon locations for us to look through and start envisioning what would most likely be the best trip of our lives! It was painless and so helpful to have it narrowed down to 8 luxury resorts and locations so I did not have to keep sorting through the dozens of random online recommendations. A review of our honeymoon in St. Lucia will be coming soon, but in the meantime, we’ve sat down with Linda to help answer your most burning honeymoon questions!

Q: How long have you been in the travel industry?

A: I’m somewhat of a newbie in the industry — ten years.  After completing my 45th cruise and helping many friends plan trips, I joined Brownell Travel, the oldest travel agency in the United States and a member Virtuoso, a network of the best luxury travel agencies in the world.

(Y’all – side note – we loved that she was a member of Virtuoso because we got so many upgrades and fun surprises/gifts at each of our resorts that we wouldn’t have gotten otherwise.)

Q: What are your favorite types of trips to plan?

A: Cruises, safaris and customized trips to England, Scotland and Ireland as well as Italy and Greece.

(Another side note 😉 – She is currently planning a trip to Italy for my boss, so I’ll let ya know how that goes!)

Q: What is the benefit of using a travel consultant for planning your honeymoon?

A: We visit resorts on a regular basis to understand what makes them a good fit for couples, young families, singles and retirees.  We have strong relationships with the management teams at our Virtuoso-partner hotels, thus assuring our clients VIP service and added complimentary benefits.  After we get to know our client’s interests, if clients haven’t decided on a destination, we can help them select the best destination for their interests and budget.  A good example is clients who want to go to Hawaii, but don’t know which island and what they can expect on each island.

Q: What is your biggest piece of advice for couples planning their honeymoon?

A: Understand your budget.  If you have a “bucket list” resort in mind, but it doesn’t fit your budget, consider shortening the stay by one night to make the resort and destination fit.

(Sidenote from Kate – This is something we did. Though we went over our budget (ooooops!) we did decrease our stay by a couple of nights so we could upgrade our room and stay at nicer resorts, which we are both super pleased that we did.)

Q: What is the biggest mistake couples make when planning their honeymoon?

A: Trying to fit too many activities into the first part of their honeymoon, especially after a big wedding. Take a day or two to breathe and enjoy each other before the big excursions!

Q:What are your top 5 favorite honeymoon resorts?

A: Pairing Ladera Resort and Sugar Beach, St. Lucia; Four Seasons Bora Bora; Belmond Hotel Caruso on the Amalfi Coast; Ashford Castle, Ireland; and Rosewood Las Ventanas, Mexico.  This is not a resort, but rather an all-inclusive boutique cruise on Seadream with only 100 guests visiting small ports that big ships can’t get into, sleeping under the stars on their Balinese beds, and enjoying activities from their watersports marina.

Summer is here and Landon and I are in full force furnishing mode with our new home. And thanks to the Dallas sun and our weekly BBQ’s, our priorities of completing the dining room and study have completely shifted and we are now fully focused on creating an outdoor backyard oasis for all our friends to enjoy!

Since the interior of our home is more neutral and spa like in style, I wanted something bold and bright that really popped! I’ve opted for a pink, green, black and white color palette with touches of gold and, luckily, thanks to this natural palm leaf print, my husband is fully on board!

I’ve done a round up of some of our favorite pieces that we are using as inspo. Most of these items are accent pieces, so you can easily incorporate them into your seasonal decor as well! Stay tuned for the full reveal shortly!

Huge thank you to For Your Party for sponsoring this post and including us in your For Your Party tablescape challenge. While products were provided, all opinions are my own.

It’s such an honor to be part of a dear friend’s wedding process and to be asked to help craft memories that will be cherished forever. When Landon and I were both asked to be part of some of our best friend’s wedding party, of course, my mind went straight to planning engagement parties and showers – after I’d finished wiping the tears off my face, of course.

We wanted to find the ideal setting to celebrate Tim and Ashley’s upcoming nuptials with an elegant garden party, and naturally it needed to be customized to our future bride and her fiancé. The blue, white, and gold color palette highlighted in the tablescape and personalized For Your Party decor was the perfect complement to a backyard oasis that would make any hostess green with envy.

I have been so inspired by Chinoiserie jars lately and knew I had to incorporate them into the gathering. Something about the colors and chicness of them is so refreshing, natural and just screams summer elegance to me, so I styled the entire party off of these home decor favorites.

So we have the perfect couple, the perfect backdrop and a theme we are still swooning over, but what really makes an engagement party special for the couple is tailoring the details to them. Incorporating their future monogram, wedding logos, names, and pictures really gives this party that personal touch.

As we all know – it’s all in the details, and thanks to For Your Party, this soirée was nothing short of detailed!

For Your Party was the perfect partner to supply the delightful decor that gave our guests of honor the love and attention that their engagement deserves. For your Party is a party decor company that makes it so simple for all of us hosts and hostesses to create custom party accessories for any gathering of any formality. With their focus on the customer experience and industry-leading technology, it’s fun and hassle-free to utilize their tailored designs, or even customize your own accessory designs in real time via their graphic design systems!

From the gold foil monogrammed napkins and matching frosted cups, to the coasters, to intricacies like drink stirrers and coordinating match boxes and napkin rings, every detail helped emphasize the classic style of the bride-and-groom-to-be. And it was so easy to make it our own with FYP’s interactive website.

I knew I wanted a classic, semi-preppy look, so I started off looking for a traditional monogrammed design in their Engagement Party recommended decor. I found this vine styled monogram on a napkin and filtered through their dozens of color options until I found a gold metallic foil I loved. I’m all about consistency, so through their design portal, I had this same image replicated on coordinating drink stirrers, cups, napkins and coasters. Could this be any classier?!

I wanted to mix it up a bit more, so I designed these gold metallic match boxes for each guest’s place setting because, of course, they are the perfect match 🙂 and coordinated them with a matching napkin ring for each place setting!

Put it all together and we have a classic and sophisticated garden party tailored to our favorite couple – and a beautiful memory for the future Mr. and Mrs. and their closest friends!

Huge thank you to Artifact Uprising for sponsoring this post! While products were provided for this post, all opinions are my own.

If you do your wedding right, you have a blast surrounded by all of your loved ones – but it also goes by in a flash and some of it is bound to feel like a blur. Landon and I are coming up on our one-YEAR anniversary and are still hearing new stories from our wedding!

Hopefully, like us, you had a great wedding photographer (shoutout to Jackie Cooper!) to capture those moments you inevitably missed.

We have LOVED going back through our wedding photos and seeing the special day from every angle. It’s heartwarming to see the joy on our faces and those of our family and friends, and so fun to look back at the nuances of that decor we obsessed about for months.

We were looking for a way to immortalize those cherished memories to one day share with our kids and grandkids. Our answer came in a lay-flat photo album from our friends at Artifact Uprising!

Let’s talk about how easy it is to commemorate your big day. Just select your ideal size, choose one of their 40 fabulous fabric and foil combinations for the cover, and then pick the finish you want for your paper (our Lustre pages look and feel amazing!).

Then you’re on to the most fun part – sifting through all your wedding photos!

Artifact Uprising’s user-friendly design interface includes a photo bank and dozens of layout options to easily mix and match. We are still swooning over the full-page layout showing one of our favorite photos from our mountain wedding!

Seriously guys, the hardest part of assembling this album is choosing which incredible photos to use to remember the best day of your life.

These beautiful lay-flat albums make the perfect gift for the parents and in-laws on any holiday. We made one for both of our sets of parents, easily tailored to feature each respective family. We loved them so much we made one for us too. Treat yo self!

Psst! The traditional one-year anniversary gift is paper, too, so this is a perfect anniversary gift as well!

So, obviously, you’ve landed the hubby or wife of your dreams… but with a gorgeous photo album, your wedding can quite literally be the gift that keeps on giving!

Pro tip: Gift this with a pack of Kleenex, because there’s a good chance family members will tear up re-living the joy from your big day!

Between Cinco de Mayo, the Kentucky Derby, and Mother’s Day, we are on a holiday roll right now! But in the craziness of all the holidays and graduations, don’t let your gift to your lovely mama slack!

Our mom’s should be celebrated everyday but help them feel extra special this Mother’s Day with one of favorites from our gift guide! We’ve done a round up of all our favorite goodies that mom’s really want this year. So shop away or feel free to send this to your own kiddos or husband as a nice little nudge 🙂

Thank you all so much for being so patient with us as we have been taking some time off to get settled in our new home! As most of you know, Landon and I bought our first house a few weeks ago and we have been up to our elbows in boxes, packing tape, paint samples and fabric swatches!

So many of you have expressed interest in the process of how we turn our vintage little charmer into a home suit for everyday entertaining! We can’t wait to show you all the exciting projects we’ve been working on, but in the meantime, we wanted to share the inspiration board that we put together which has been serving as our guide in designing our home!

Style wise – we are going for a sophisticated glam look with vintage and traditional touches. Our home was built in the ’50s but has been updated in the past few years, so we are trying to build off the vintage charm and continue to bring in a sophisticated and contemporary vibe. We want it to have a sense of formality but still be comfortable and approachable for our guests and a little oasis for us when we get home.

We are focusing on a color palette consisting of gray, seafoam, white, gold and dark brown accents. We are carrying this color scheme throughout the entire home to give it some unity, with the exception of our guest room and study, which will be a bit more bold.

We are having so much fun with this process and have some big updates for you over the next few months, but in the meantime, be sure to check out our Instagram story for daily projects and updates in real time! We can’t wait until our little project is fully entertaining ready!

Of course, we love seeing the kid’s running around, wide-eyed with excitement as they look through what fun goodies the Easter bunny brought them, but it’s also important to keep it special for your honey! Easter baskets for him are always extra fun to put together because you can be as unique and creative as you want and bring in a fun theme based on his interests.
