Brussels sprouts have gotten a bad rap in this world somehow. I don’t know if it is because Danny Tanner hated them, so all of us growing up in the Full House era refused to eat them or what the deal is because let me tell you – they are dang good!

I finally got over my fear of Brussels sprouts within the past year or so, and I can’t get enough of them! I literally want them for dinner every single night, and if I am at a restaurant and they have a special side of them, you can bet that I am amending my order to get those!

Huge thank you to Yankee Candle for sponsoring this post. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Here in the Haaf house, we’re doing everything we can to coax away the summer heat and welcome fall. And what better way to ring in the year’s penultimate season than by filling our home with autumnal aromas and serving Apple Cider Moscow Mules?!

Fall is the season I look forward to all year long – and Yankee Candle has come through with the perfect seasonal scents: Farmstand Festival, Dried Lavender & Oak, Golden Chestnut, Ciderhouse, Persimmon & Brown Sugar, and Sweet Maple Chai. Their new  fragrances are centered on the basic tenants of the pleasant pre-winter season – picked fruits, home-baked treats and general coziness… The beauty really is in the simplicity!

Apple cider is one of my favorite treats year-round, but especially when harvest season arrives, so it’s no surprise that I’m swooning over the Ciderhouse creation in Yankee Candle’s Farmers Market Collection. The Farmstand Festival is also a fave because it takes me back to the smell of one of my grandmother’s Yankee Candles burning in the house after a day playing in the leaves.

With fall fragrances filling our home, the natural reaction is to immediately whip up an apple pie and batch of Apple Cider Moscow Mules because the only thing better than apple cider is boozy apple cider. The apple cider mule is an amazing seasonal take on a vintage and versatile cocktail!

Be sure to check out the full Farmers Market Collection here and our favorite Apple Cider Moscow Mule recipe below to create the perfect Fall gathering this season!

Thank you again to Yankee Candle for sponsoring this post! Cheers and happy Fall!

We’re just a few weeks away from St. Patrick’s Day, so today we are getting all ready and preparing our home before the Leprechaun arrives and making our favorite treat – St. Patrick’s Day Popcorn!

This is the perfect treat to send your little Leprechauns to school with or to serve at your St. Patty’s Day party! This sweet and salty festive snack will be thoroughly enjoyed by kids and adults alike and only requires a few simple ingredients – your favorite popcorn (I usually opt for Skinny Pop to save on those cals somewhere-ha), white chocolate, green food coloring, green sprinkles, and the green candy of your liking! Green M&M’s is always a favorite, but this year I opted for green candy corn that I picked up at our local Central Market (I also found some on Amazon here).

This Raspberry Lemon Cheesecake is one of the most refreshing and decadent cheesecakes I’ve ever had. I am a huge cheesecake lover, but this one tops the charts! The lemon flavored cheesecake is topped with fresh raspberries and drizzled with a lemon raspberry glaze that’s just to die for. The freshness of the lemon flavoring and the raspberries almost makes it taste (do I dare say?) healthy! It’s definitely not healthy, but the raspberries on top makes me feel a little bit better! 🙂

Look out, y’all! These no-bake, Banana Chocolate Chip Energy Bites are about to change your world! And I’d bet, your husband’s and children’s as well!

With the start of January and resolution season plus many large family weddings and events coming up, Landon and I have been trying to eat a little healthier. So for us, that really means snacking wiser and these Energy Bites have made ALL the difference!

Instead of reaching for some tortilla chips or whatever easy grab and go snack is around, we have these pre-made in our refrigerator for an easily accessible snack! Not only are they healthy and give you that extra boost of energy, but they have just the right amount of sweetness to kick that sweet tooth out of town!

There’s no better way to start a weekend morning than with a plate of hot cinnamon rolls! These use to be a childhood favorite but now sadly only seem to make their appearance on special occasions like Christmas brunch or when we have house guests. So thank goodness, we got to celebrate Landon’s birthday last weekend so we could whip these babies up and indulge!

These cinnamon rolls are gooey, sugary and melt perfectly in your mouth – it’s like a little piece of heaven. And what makes these even better are the sweet aromas that fill your house as soon as you pop them in the oven! Check out the recipe below and surprise your loved ones with this special treat!

In honor of Landon’s birthday this year, we are sharing inspiration for our favorite build your own pizza bar parties!

This year for Landon’s birthday, we celebrated it, as he would say – “sorority style,” meaning he had a week long celebration (that lucky guy)! We started the week off with a fun gathering with all his friends at Peticolas Brewery to enjoy good beer and games, had a delicious dinner just the two of us at his favorite restaurant, Texas de Brazil, and completed the week long celebration with a make your own pizza bar party with our family!

Lauren Conrad

Now I have to admit – the pizza bar party started off a little selfish. We have been so bogged down with moving and unpacking, that I just didn’t have the energy to make a full sit down meal for everyone, plus I honestly don’t know where all our kitchen supplies are right now – HA! No matter what the motivation was – this ended up being one of the best birthday parties we have ever thrown!

The pizza bar was a total hit! It was interactive, fun, creative and everyone could personalize their meal to their preference!

So – How to set up a pizza bar!

Hot Chocolate Bars are the perfect addition to any winter party. Whether you’re inviting some friends over for a low key hang out or looking for a reason to celebrate and want to throw a winter soiree before Valentine’s Day, a hot chocolate bar is the perfect set up to include!

We recently shared all our Hot Chocolate Party Entertaining Essentials but if you’re looking for a little extra inspo, we’ve got you covered here too! Check out some of our favorite Hot Chocolate Bars from our fellow styling friends to help getting those juices flowing!

Project Nursery

Let’s be real. Whether it’s for general levity or to get you through that awkward politics discussion with your uncle, there are plenty of reasons to have a drink around Christmas time.

But, if your family is like mine, that family time often includes little kiddos running around. Couple that with the fact that we here at The Everyday Hostess run a family-friendly operation, there can’t always be Bailey’s in the hot cocoa or rum in the eggnog.

So we’ve channeled our inner bartender and thought up some drink recipes that can be easily adult-ified (I’ll have one, please and thank you) or toned down for the munchkins.

“Reindeer bubbles”

Raise your hand if you like champagne! Whether it’s Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s, or a random Tuesday evening on the couch — oops, did I just say that out loud? — it’s never a bad time for some bubbly.
