Hummus is an absolute staple in my household! I mean, I literally LOVE it! I am always sampling different types in the store, so I finally started experimenting with it in my own kitchen. And let me tell you – it is way better homemade and even easier to make than you would expect!
Roasted red pepper hummus is always a crowd pleaser, so if you are starting out making it at home, give this one a whirl! The red pepper combined with the lemon juice tastes so fresh and delicious and is the perfect topping on any pita chip or veggie!
Roasted Red Pepper Hummus

Ingredients
- 1 (15 oz) can garbanzo beans, drained and rinsed
- ¼ cup fresh lemon juice
- ¼ cup tahini
- 2 cloves garlic
- 1/2 tsp kosher salt, or more to taste
- 1/2 tsp cumin
- 1 pinch of cayenne pepper
- 2 Tbsp olive oil, plus more for serving if desired
- 2 medium red bell peppers, roasted and chopped
- Parsley and red pepper flakes, for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Add garbanzo beans, lemon juice, tahini, garlic, salt, cumin, and cayenne pepper in a food processor or blender. Pulse 2 minutes. Scrape down sides and bottom of the food processor/blender.
- Add olive oil and ¾ of the chopped peppers. Pulse 1 minute and add 1 tbsp water to thin. Pulse 1 more minute. Add one more tbsp of water if you want it thinner and pulse.
- Plate and top with additional olive oil if desired and with remaining small diced red bell peppers.
- If desired, garnish with parsley and red pepper flakes. Serve with pita chips or veggies. Enjoy!
